January 13 Fix Mac OS X grey screen panic Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI"This afternoon, my Mac Pro occurred a serious problem: while restarting to Tiger, it always stopped in grey panic screen.
Repairing the Tiger disk by Disk Utility doesn't help. God! If the issue can't be fixed, I need to reinstall/reconfigure so many applications.
A lot of google searchs, ......, finally the issue was solved.
My Mac has two harddisks, and I installed Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard (preview).
1. download latest Tiger update dmg file. (MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11Intel.dmg)
2. boot to Leopard and mount the dmg.
3. run the installer, select Tiger disk as target volume.
This's all.
If you don't have multiple boot volumes, you can use Mac OS X installation DVD.
1. download latest OS update;
2. put the dmg file into USB flash driver or other external disk.
3. boot system from installation DVD.
4. lauch DU to repair disk, then lauch Terminal.
5. mount the dmg file, and run the installer
